With warmer weather just around the corner many makeup brands have begun to promote their fresh faced S/S lines. To those of you that read my blog or watch my channel are no doubt aware of my affinity with the unique concepts and ideals produced by Illamasqua. This launch is no exception to creativity, as it bridges the gap between the world of cosmetics and bold social commentary.
“Unpredictable, uncharted and unnatural, Illamasqua unleashes Toxic Nature for Spring/Summer 2011, a colour collection born from a visionary concept of nature fighting back against the genetically modified society that plunders it. Illamasqua has created the Toxic Nature collection through a palette of lurid shades, corrupted hues and glistening muted tones that offer intoxicating versions of their original selves.”
The title of the line “Toxic Nature” seems to be an unusual choice for a cosmetics company that strives to induce feelings of beauty and glamor. This is why I am so completely enraptured by Illamasqua as a brand because they continually push boundaries, challenge our very ideals of beauty and create something ultimately unique that stands apart from the rest.
It is quite evident why flocks of makeup enthusiasts wait with bated breath over Illamasqua’s collections. This is one of the only lines I have come across that courageously incorporates ultra-feminine pastel shades with dark and alluring tones, especially for a S/S collection. This brazen approach to color, entices the senses and allows us to broaden not only our understanding of color, but of the possibilities between the undeniable fusion of art and makeup.
A new matte formula that can either neutralize or dominate. Create the ultimate in textures whether it’s on your face, eyes, or body, bringing a flash of colour to a subtle contour.
“The power of the products in this collection is evident in the intensity of the Cream Pigments – they are intense, raw colour but blend down easily exactly like an artists paint palette.” – Alex Box.

I’m a huge fan of Illamasqua’s beauty campaigns as well. My only gripe with this new collection is some of the girl’s makeup makes them look, well, creepy. Not sexy creepy or intriguing creepy, more like run-away-if-you-see them-coming-creepy. But the collection itself looks beautiful 🙂

Haha! Yes, that is one thing I love about them. I like that they always redefine what is perceived as beautiful and make it something much more enigmatic. I’m a big fan of anything weird or bizarre, so the brand has always appealed to me in that respect. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
