My favorite cruelty-free skincare brands that I use for my everyday skincare routine

decided to share my updated skincare routine with you all since making the switch to only using cruelty-free beauty products last fall. My routine has undergone many changes over the years, with my skin fluctuating from extremely dry and texture issues to now being mostly combination. I have experimented with many different products, as frustrating and costly as that can be in hopes of restoring my skin to a more balanced state.

For a little more reference, my face has always been pretty sensitive and I do suffer from a bit of mild rosacea. I am hoping that this insight will prove beneficial to those of you with similar skin concerns and hopefully introduce you to some new cruelty free products.

Morning Routine

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser

Cleanser – I try not to overwork my skin due to its sensitivity, so I try and keep my morning routine to a minimum. I start by doing a quick cleanse with the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser before prepping the rest of my face for makeup. While the price tag is a little high, their products have been highly effective on my skin and those of my clients. The Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser is great for not only balancing the skin, but also provides deep cleansing benefits by removing excess oils and impurities without compromising hydration while visibly reduces pore size with the aid of French green clay and Morrocan Rhassoul clay ingredients. The vitamin C ester and Neroli also help to brighten as well as soothe the skin, making for a very gentle cleanse and a more balanced and clear complexion.

Murad Oil-Control Mattifier Lotion SPF 15

Moisturizer – The Murad Oil Control Mattifier is incredibly lightweight in texture, is equipped with an SPF 15 and quickly dries down to a matte finish that could easily be used in place of a primer. I love using this before makeup because there it reduces shine instantly and its slight tackiness lends itself well when applying foundation. It also controls shine for up to eight hours which gives me more peace of mind that my make is going to stay put throughout the day.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40

Sunscreen – One of the last steps in my morning routine is to apply sunscreen. Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen in SPF 40 has been a wonderful addition to my routine (Thanks to Jessica Haze for the brand recommendation!) as it is oil free, has a velvety matte finish and works extremely well under makeup. It’s also very light weight, is scentless and also helps to control oil production throughout the day.

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 Shea Butter Scent

Lip Balm – My favourite lip conditioning product is the Jack Black Moisture Therapy Lip Balm. It has an SPF 25 which makes it suitable for day time wear, is chalk full of vitamin E and shea butter and has a thicker consistency to coat the lips even in the most extreme weather conditions. I will even pop this on at night time before bed and in the morning my lips are always super hydrated and smooth making them prime real estate for for liquid lipstick application (especially matte lipsticks!).

Night Routine

Embryolisse Lotion Micellaire No Rinse Make-Up Remover

Makeup Remover – Embryolisse Lotion Micellaire No Rinse Make-Up Remover  lifts away dirt, excess oil and makeup from your skin as it softens and conditions with non-irritating ingredients. I find that this even removes the toughest waterproof makeup, which is ideal since I don’t have to scrub the life out of my face before cleansing. The botanical extracts of cornflower help to promote a smooth and supple texture while chamomile extract soothes inflammation and helps keep the sensitivity to a minimum!

Cleanser – I use the same Sunday Riley cleanser in the evening just to keep things simple and more cost effective!

Embryolisse Lotion Micellaire No Rinse Make-Up Remover

Exfoliator – For the past year or so I have been loving the Ole Henriksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub. It A dual-action  scrub with a blend of AHA’s, glycolic and lactic acids that help to lift dead skin cells and refine the skins texture. I love the warming and cooling effect which helps to tighten and unclogs pores and absorbs excess oil. If my skin is being particularly troublesome,  I will leave it on for a few minutes and use it as a mask before massaging it into the skin and rinsing it off.

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

Face Oil – After turning 30 I knew I wanted to up my anti-aging game and include a retinol in my routine. One of the most effective ones is the Luna Sleeping Night Oil by Sunday Riley. After cleansing and exfoliating I put a few drops into my palms and gently press it into my skin and neck. The following morning my skin always looks so plump and radiant and the appearance of fine lines and pores are visible reduced. It’s the closest thing I’ve found that gives you a similar result to a spa facial and leaves you feeling like you’ve got a naturally healthy glow.

Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Moisturizing Creme

Moisturizer – After allowing the oil to absorb, I follow up with Ole Henriksen’s Nurture Me moisturizer. I fell in love with its whipped texture and dreamy fruit scent while using it on some of my clients while working at Sephora a few years back. It’s a rich and hydrating face moisturizer jam packed with vitamins C and E as well as rose-hip fruit oils that help to treat even the driest and most sensitive skin. If you experience redness or have extremely parched skin this will quickly become your holy grail moisturizer. I feel like it perfectly compliments the often drying properties of retinol and leaves my skin feeling balanced and comfortable.

Murad Renewal Eye Cream

Eye Cream – I am somewhat skeptical when it comes to the performances of eye creams as most of the products I have tried have come up short. I do however have a lot of trust in the brand Murad and seeing that it is formulated by a dermatologist and I have had positive experiences in the past with their brand I ended up investing in the Resurgence Renewing Eye cream. I like the thicker almost buttery consistency of the product especially during the winter when my skin can get quite dry. That being said, it absorbs like a dream and pairs well under makeup. I apply this morning and night around the orbital bone and feel instantly refreshed and hydrated. It has quite an effective smoothing effect so if you’re concerned with fine lines, this one definitely does the trick!

I hope this proves helpful and I am curious to know what skin care products you’re always repurchasing! If you have any questions about my routine or would like to share your own, feel free to comment down below as I would love to get a dialogue going about this.
