Bronzing is a concept that was a foreign concept to me for most of my life. I remember embracing my fair skin at a very young age and finding it to be a unique attribute in contrast to a society obsessed with tanning. I have tried quite a few different bronzers on myself as well as some of my fairer clientele and Hoola was by far one the most complimentary. The only other bronzers I’ve found suitable for my skin tone is the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil bronzer and the Makeup Forever Pro Bronze Fusion in 10M.
I will preface this post by saying I rarely wear bronzer and if I do I will use a cooler toned bronzer to define my face if my contouring kit isn’t handy. I have done a lot of research over the years so that I’m able to offer a well rounded, informed opinion for those whom are interested in attaining the ever coveted bronze glow. So, If you’re looking to maintain your tan over the winter, enhance your natural skin tone or you’re a fair girl that is struggling to find a suitable bronzing product then read on!

What I Like:
Flattering on fair skin – I’m not usually one for wearing bronzer but if I had to pick my favorite it would have to be Hoola bronzer and all of its sister products. It has a neutral tone, leaning more to the cool side which is perfect for anyone with a very fair complexion. Since I have a pink undertone I find the beige hue is even more complimentary and ultimately a lot more natural looking. Dew the Hoola is on the warmer side of the spectrum so I usually prefer to use the powder in most cases.
Formula – The one uniform thing I love about the products in this kit is how lightweight and buildable they are. Given how soft the pigmentation is they are a lot more forgiving. You can layer multiple products for a tailored look that makes it simplistic enough for even the newest of makeup wearers.
Long wear -Apart from the ultra plush gloss and tinted lip balm all of the other products are supremely long wearing and hold up even on the hottest of days. I like that Benefit offers stains, powders and creams in each color line so that you can layer products to not only increase their vibrancy but also their wear.
Finish – Can I just say that I’m ecstatic that all of these products are matte? This adds a lot more definition and avoids an overly shiny appearance. This is also a great feature for any of you oily skinned gals that want to keep the shine to a minimum.
What I Don’t Like:
Shade Range – The one negative aspect I can think of is that this kit seems to be marketed towards light to medium skin tones. Since the pigment is on the softer side, I don’t think it would be suited for darker skin tones as it may end up looking ashy. I also feel as if the liquid bronzer is a tad to warm for my skin tone. I definitely prefer the powder version. The mascara, gloss and lip balm are quite universal so those products will certainly suit everyone.
Swatches and Tips For Use:
Dew the Hoola – Apply this cream bronzer with your fingertips all over your face for a seamless glow. If you want a more sculpted appearance apply with a synthetic brush under the hollows of your cheeks, jawline and around the hairline. Blend out and set with powder for added longevity.
