What I Like:

The metallurgy collection features three entirely new shades, Iced, Triptych and Authentic, as well as three metallic versions of existing lip tars; Electric Grandma, Super NSFW and Yaoi. This diverse collection produces high shine and fits beautifully as the punchy counterpart to the classic, satin finish lip tars. I love that OCC has brought out a collection that embraces it’s editorial roots. Whether your on set for a photo shoot, performing on stage or simply enjoying a night on the town these lip tars will surely get you noticed. The formulation contains the same nourishing Vitamin E, Hemp and peppermint oil ingredients that I’ve come to love and keeps your lips fairly moisturized throughout the day. Each lip tar is available individually in 0.33 fl oz tubes for $16.00 USD which is a plus, considering how pigmented they are and how very little product is needed for each use.

What I don’t like:

The lip tars are a little bit drying after a few hours, especially if you don’t exfoliate beforehand.  I find that the added shine in this particular collections seems to mask that somewhat. The metallic shine reflects the light and adds a more supple and glossy finish compared to a lot of matte lipsticks and I like it even more for this reason.

Tips for application:

  •          Exfoliate your lips to remove any excess dryness
  •          Make sure to moisturize your lips on regular basis
  •          Blot off any excess moisture before application.
  •          To prevent the lip tar from feathering, invest in a similar color lip liner and fill in your entire lips.
  •          Next, use a tapered lip brush to apply the lip tar for a more precise and clean application.
  •          Conceal around your lips with a flat edged brush and set with powder.
